Emily Irene VanCamp who initially set out to become professional dancer was drawn in acting when she visited her sister Katie in the making of the movie Ladies Room. In parallel to studying acting she was also offered an appearance on a television show in Canada. Some of the TV series that she appeared in were Are You scared of Dark? Radio Active. VanCamp made a breakthrough in his career when he was cast in the WB horror-mystery show Glory Days as Sam Dolan. Though the show garnered positive critiques, it's poor ratings led to it being removed after only nine episodes. Despite her May 12th 1986 birthday she was offered a role on Everwood in its cast as Amy Abbott. The role resulted in her being nominated for the Young Artist Award nominee and for four Teen Choice Awards.
